Surveying the Digital Future

Both net users and non-Internet users reported that 61.1 percent ranked the Internet as the most important information source with 60.3 percent ranking books second; 57.8 percent ranking newspapers third; 50.2 percent ranking television fourth; 40 percent ranking radio fifth; and 28.7 percent ranking magazines last.

UK LIBRARIES

In the UK, the libraries are jumping on the web. Many are going online in the library. An ambitious U.K. project, the People's Network, wants all of the United Kingdom's libraries (more than 4,000) linked to the Internet to become access-and-learning centers by the end of this year. http://www.wired.com/news/culture/0,1284,54151,00.html
